Late summer heat and drought can create some of the most beautiful scenes. A Quiet Stream is a 24x18-inch original completed in 2025 by landscape artist Jeanette Johnson. This vertical-oriented landscape painting depicts a heavily grazed pasture at sunset on a hot, dry summer day.
 
Close-cropped grass and a cluster of trees in the distance are familiar scenes in rural America. The dust kicked up by passing cars and combines in the field turns the distance into a hazy brown and casts an orange tinge across the land. This small, trickling stream cuts through the pasture toward a multi-generational homestead.
